Taking Great Care of Yourself


 

One of the best ways to get a jump on looking great for late summer is to start taking great care of your body. Even if there are only a couple months left of summer, you still have plenty of time to make improvements that can last not just until the fall, but through the winter and into the following year. They key is to make sure you set reasonable goals that enable you to capitalize on the time you have and make the most out of self-improvement opportunities. These opportunities may not present themselves, however. Often, you have to create the opportunity by either getting specific help with a treatment or skill you need or b you carving time out of your schedule in order to make it happen. Let’s talk about some things you can do to get yourself looking great for the rest of the summer season.

Work Out at Least Three Times a Week

Working out has long been lauded as a great way to improve your body—and mind. And, yes, what they say is true: You are setting yourself up for various types of success when you work out on a regular basis. The benefits are many, and they certainly are not limited to the changes your body experiences. You also feel better about yourself. This happens for two basic reasons. First, as you work out, your body releases endorphins and other chemicals into the blood that make you feel good. It’s like getting a natural high—a reward for doing the right thing. This is often felt immediately after a workout and even during the course of the exercise. The other reason you start to feel good about yourself are the challenges you’re facing and defeating. A good workout involves pushing your own personal boundaries. Often, these boundaries have been in place for many years. Sometimes, they are like monkeys on your back, holding down your self-image. Getting them out of the way is a great way to enhance our sense of self. For example, if you have never been able to run a 5K, you can set this as a workout goal. Once you start the process of shooting for a 5K, perhaps in the fall, you will start to notice that the objective gets closer and closer with every exercise you do. Even little accomplishments help boost your self-esteem as they help you overcome obstacles that may have been holding you back for years and years.

However, working out doesn’t have to be something you do in preparation for a specific event. You ca just do it for fun. One caution however, working out, regardless of why you do it, needs to come with goals. The goal can simply be to get your heart rate up for half an hour three times a week. Or it can start off as something more modest. Either way, you are going to want to set good goals that allow you to see your progress, make adjustments in order to keep it going, and reward yourself accordingly for success.

Take Care of Your Skin’s Appearance

Our skin is like a permanent outfit. We may put a lot of time, energy, and money into having the right outfits in our closets, but our skin should get at least as much care.
